Two Panama City men were reportedly on board a yacht which was lost during a typhoon two weeks ago between Malaysia and Okinawa in the East China Sea.

News reports indicated four men were onboard the “Jade Princess” a 66 foot yacht which the crew reportedly was delivering to its new owner.

Internet reports indicated the four on board had been identified as Ryan Nash, 52, Mark Keeper, 24, Jamie Duffey, 35, and Daniel Bates, 55. Mark and Jamie are from Panama City, according to family friends. Mark Keeper was listed as a deckhand and Jamie Duffy is listed as an engineer.

The crew was able to radio a Mayday distress call during the storm. A yacht’s radio and some debris were found six hours later after the Japanese Coast Guard received the Mayday. They started a search effort. There are reports the yacht did have a rescue life raft.

The raft has not been located raising hopes the missing men might still be alive despite going through the most powerful typhoon to hit the area in 13 years.

The Japan Coast Guard and the U-S Navy are taking part in the search and investigation.
