Thirty BellSouth 4-1-1 operators based in Panama City will be out of jobs in two months.
BellSouth is closing the operator services operation based in its building at the corner of Balboa Avenue and West 15th Street. It's part of a consolidation move.
Besides the local office, BellSouth will be closing similar Call Centers in Fort Pierce, Lake City and Winston Salem, N.C. and rerouting all of the calls to Albany, Georgia.
Some of the local employees will reportedly be offered the chance to relocate to Albany, after the center here closes August 19.
The company says the change will not affect the normal operations or service of BellSouth.
