It happened one year ago today, a shark attack in Cape San Blas that cost a 16-year-old Tennessee boy his leg.
Craig Hutto of Tennessee was surf-fishing just off the first sandbar at the Cape when a shark attacked, taking a chunk out of his right thigh.
Family members and beachgoers pulled the teenager onto the beach where he was airlifted to Bay Medical. Doctors had to amputate his right leg.
Since then Craig and his family have returned home and he’s doing well with his artificial leg. Family members say he is as active as ever.
