A Vernon area man is dead after flipping his vehicle several hundred feet down a Washington County dirt road.
Authorities say 50-year-old Thomas Murray, Jr. was traveling eastbound on Mudhill Road near Bonnet Pond Road around 6 o'clock Wednesday morning when he hit a pot hole in the road.
That's when Murray apparently lost control of his vehicle. The SUV spun around and then rolled over several times, covering about 600 feet in the process, and knocking off two of its tires.
Murray was wearing a seat belt, but the violent rollovers caused multiple blunt force head trauma.
The Florida Highway Patrol says he was pronounced dead at the scene.
