A local Army Reserve group is set to deploy this weekend, and while that might evoke feelings of patriotism right after the Fourth of July, what's more touching is how this deployment will affect one family.
The 508th Transportation Detachment will be heading to Iraq this weekend.
And one Army Reserve Staff Sergeant is leaving her family behind once again. Pamela Casson was deployed before, leaving behind her young daughter.
But as painful as it may be for the next year, she knows her family is taken care of and will support her no matter what.
“She's not happy with it, but she understands why I do what I do. She knows I love my country and this is the career I chose and I'm proud to do it and she supports me every bit."
Staff Sergeant Casson and the rest of her unit will have their deployment ceremony at Hiland Park Elementary School's auditorium on Baldwin Road at 9:00 Friday morning.
Anyone is welcomed to come out and show their support for the troops. U.S. Senator Bill Nelson will be on hand for a big sendoff for the reservists.
