The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 42-year-old Debra Lynn Josey of 6255 Will Owens Road in Laurel Hill.
Investigators say Josey’s body was found behind the wheel of her car on State Road 85 near the Duke Field entrance around 8 a.m. Monday morning. She was southbound and had apparently pulled off the roadway.
An EMS employee who’d noticed the car earlier while enroute to a call stopped and checked on the situation on the way back. He discovered Josey and two dogs inside the car with the engine still running.
An autopsy is being scheduled for Tuesday to try to determine the exact cause of death. In the meantime, investigators are treating the death as suspicious.
