More Allegations at Beach Police

Panama City Beach city officials have received another anonymous letter complaining about the behavior of some of the city’s police officers.

The letter was sent to beach City Manager Richard Jackson. It was dated July 3.

It was sent about a week after the first letter turned up in city council members mailboxes at city hall.

The writer of the newest letter claims to be a relative of a beach police officer and claims to have knowledge of officers drinking and having sex while on duty.

There are also allegations of stealing, speeding and having sex while on duty.

The first letter earlier this month, also sent anonymously, was possibly written by a beach police officer.

At that time the city said it would look into the allegations but would probably take them more seriously had the letter not have been sent anonymously. The second letter criticizes Mayor Lee Sullivan for that comment, claiming people are afraid of police retaliation. It calls for an outside investigation.

City Manager Richard Jackson is looking into the complaints, but did not want to comment on the case.
