A nine-year-old local girl is getting a lot of attention from the Panama City Police Department. That's a good thing.
Officers say Brooke Crone's quick thinking may have saved her family, and possibly others, from injuries.
On June 28, Brooke, her mother and younger brother were all in the family car on Highway 231 near the mall when Brooke’s mother's blood sugar level dropped dramatically.
The mother became incoherent and swerved into another lane. Brooke had the presence of mind to keep talking to her mother and was able to convince her to stop the vehicle.
Brooke then called her father, who got emergency personnel to the scene.
Police Chief John Van Etten and his officers honored Crone with a Certificate of Recognition and gifts for the actions she took.
