A federal grand jury in Pensacola has indicted eight Mexicans and one Guatemalan who are all here in the Panhandle illegally.
Federal Immigration and Customs officials arrested the nine men, charging them with possession of counterfeit documents, namely work permits or green cards.
Six of the men were arrested after Bay County School District personnel ran background checks on them and found out they were here illegally. They were then arrested by Panama City Police. They were working for a contractor doing work at one of the local schools.
The Guatemalan man was arrested while beach police were investigating a fight on Panama City Beach.
The other two men indicted were picked up working jobs at Port Pensacola.
