Some new jobs are coming to the area in the form of a local branch of a big corporation.
EDO held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, officially opening for business. EDO is one of the biggest suppliers of airborne naval minesweeping equipment in the world.
The office on West Fifth Street in downtown Panama City will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center.
James Smith, the EDO CEO, says its location is ideal since the Navy Base is one of its main customers.
"This is across from the bay here from our major customers in this area of undersea warfare countermeasures and we moved some of our facilities, some of our people and we have a business plan that supports the customer."
The new Panama City office will work on new technology, as well as improving current minesweeping systems.
