Congressman Allen Boyd was in town Friday, hosting the 4th annual Small Business Resource Conference at Gulf Coast Community College.
His goal is to expand and improve small businesses, which he says will create more job opportunities in north Florida.

The conference brought out entrepreneurs, business owners, and folks looking to start their own small businesses.

Boyd says he wants to help people understand what principles are involved in starting a new business.

He also wants folks to recognize some of the traps, and be able to overcome many of the hurdles involved.

Boyd says he is passionate about small businesses and thinks they are necessary in today's economy.

"In our economic model in America, which is the greatest in the world, three out of every four new jobs created are created by small businesses,” explained Congressman Boyd. “The future health of our economy depends upon the ability of people starting up a new business."

Boyd is a fifth generation Small Farm businessman.
