Springfield Teen Shot

Sixteen-year-old Tavish Greene remains in the hospital after police say someone shot him in the leg while in his cousin's car.

It happened at 10:15 Monday night in Springfield.

Greene’s mother Tangela Sly says she walked out of her house to see what the noise was.

“I walked down to the car and saw my baby lying down with blood everywhere and he was yelling for help."

Police say a gunman ambushed Tavish Greene right next to his home while he was spending time with friends.

Lamar Hobbs of the Springfield Police Department outlined what happened.

“We made contact with our victim and found that we had been shot what we thought had been twice in the legs. We now believe he was only shot once."

Police believe the victim had just gotten in his car when the suspect walked up, opened his door cocked a 12 gauge shotgun and fired.

Springfield police are continuing to investigate. They say if you have any information about this shooting, please call the Springfield Police Department at 872-7545 or Crimestoppers tips line at 785-TIPS.
