At least one local city is not considering any tax cuts. In Cedar Grove, they are talking about a tax increase, a large tax increase.
Some residents are furious because they may have to pay much more in property taxes.
It's only been 11 months since Cedar Grove first levied its own tax. Now, the city council wants a tax increase of more than 300 percent for the upcoming year. This would add hundreds of dollars to the average homeowner's city taxes.
City leaders say at least some of the money would be used to pay off past loans.
A 3.5 mil increase would cost residents $3.50 additional for each $1,000 they have that is taxable.
The public hearing is slated for September 12th at 6 p.m.
