Volkswagen car lovers got the chance to turn their hobby into charity at the 3rd Annual Volkswagen Car Show, Saturday.

The German Metal Volkswagen Club of Panama City hosted the show, which has gotten more popular each year they have held it.

110 Volkswagen owners brought their cars, vans and dune buggies to show off to the spectators.

Each participate paid an entry fee into the show, which was turned into a fifty-fifty drawing.

Clay Poole, owner of a 1956 Volkswagen Beetle, won the best in show award and received half of the money raised at the event.

The remainder of the proceeds go to the Anchorage Children’s Home on Lisenby Avenue.

Most of the car owners drove here from out of town, but they said it was well worth the trip.

David Kober, from Enterprise, Ala. said, “We travel as a group, 14 of us rode out here today from Alabama, and we just run around to a bunch of different shows within a couple hours of the house and have a good time driving."

Car show officials say they hope to raise about 2 thousand dollars, which is a big increase from the 12 hundred dollars they raised last year.
