Early Education and Care's Head Start program and a host of other children's agencies celebrated Children's Week today, which will take place next week in the capitol.

The celebration brings together thousands of parents, children and community leaders to discuss children's issues across the state.

Head Start classes and the sandbox singers entertained the crowd with songs in German and Spanish.

Panama City Mayor Scott Clemons was on hand to declare March 27th as “Parents' and Children's Day.”

EEC officials say the celebration is important in educating parents to be the voice of their children.

EEC Executive Director Pam Fleege said the goal is, “To help people understand that children really don't vote, so therefore parents need to advocate on their behalf so that the bills that are voted on in the legislature are made with critical thinking."

Children's Week will last from March 29th to April 6th.
