Two Area Fatalities

Two people have died in two separate traffic accidents this weekend in the area.

One person died in a single-car accident Friday night on Indian Woman Road in Walton County.

Troopers say the driver lost control and crashed into the side of a concrete bridge. Killed was a passenger 29-year-old Roberto Verez Hernandez of Santa Rosa Beach.

The driver and other passenger were both critically injured and were life-flighted to a Panama City hospital.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed on Highway 77 near Woodland Road near Deanne Bozeman School Saturday night.

Twenty-eight-year-old Michael S. Carroll of Southport was walking across State Road 77 trying to go to a convenience store when he stepped into the path of a car driven by a Cottondale man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
