An Okaloosa County man could spend the rest of his life in prison for a shooting in Marianna.
It took a Jackson County Circuit Court jury just a little over an hour to convict 64-year-old Edil Carror of attempted second degree murder.
The shooting happened on January 20 on Magnolia Road just south of Marianna.
Carror supposedly tried to run another driver off of the road. The two got into an argument. The other driver's granddaughter, 12-year-old Ronna Grubbs, was in the passenger seat.
Carror fired a .357 magnum handgun into the vehicle and stuck the Grubbs girl over the right temple. The bullet then exited over her left eye. She was life-flighted to Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama in critical condition.
Fortunately, she survived and testified in the trial in Marianna this week.
The jury convicted Carror of the attempted murder charge, as well as aggravated battery with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Because the jury found him guilty of the use of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, Carror faces a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 24.
