A five-year-old child playing with a cigarette lighter is blamed for a mid-morning house fire in Panama City.
The alarm was sounded a few minutes after nine Wednesday morning and Panama City firefighters had the blaze under control in 10 minutes.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof area of the one story home at 1613 East 7th St.
Investigators say the home, owned by Reto W. Williams, was damaged in a hallway and one bedroom. Everyone in the home at the time the blaze broke out was able to escape without injury.
Panama City firefighters and the State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated.
