Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach went into lockdown around 10AM Wednesday morning, after a teacher spotted a former student on campus.
The school's resource officer called the situation in to the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department and discovered that the ex-student, Alfonzo Borum, had escaped from Juvenile Detention in Pensacola and had a stolen car.
The resource officer, sheriff's deputies and Fort Walton Beach Police chased Borum inside the school for about 20 minutes.
He was finally cornered in a bathroom and arrested. He was unarmed and no one was hurt during the incident.
Choctawhatchee’s principal says the school has recently practiced their lockdown procedures, which they used on Wednesday.
Prior Middle School, which is across from the high school, also went into lockdown.
