After a rash of school shootings, President Bush and his Cabinet members are trying to improve school safety.
Two days ago the president sponsored a school safety summit in Washington D.C. A Walton County teenager was among the panelists, offering her insight.
Chiara Perkins, a Walton High School junior and president of the student Crimewatch, was the only student panelist.
Washington insiders asked her how to get more students involved in keeping schools safe.
Perkins says making students feel important and starting youth oriented programs is key.
Perkins also got a chance to meet President Bush. Perkins returned home Wednesday evening, and was back in school Thursday morning.
She says she's now thinking about interning in Washington next summer.
