Panama City police say a crew putting in underground fiber optic cables cut the waterline flooding the street at the intersection of Drummond and West 23rd.

The water main break caused crews to shut down the road from Gulf Coast Community College to Beck Avenue.

Panama city police set up roadblocks around 9:30 Thursday morning and Florida Department of Transportation crews were at the scene shortly after starting repairs.

The road is expected to be closed for the remainder of the day and possibly late into Thursday night.

As a precautionary measure, the city of Panama City has issued a precautionary boil water notice for residents living in the area north of 23rd Street, east of Mound Avenue and west of Michigan Avenue.
