Saturday, a local mother got the keys to her brand new three-bedroom home thanks to Habitat for Humanity of Bay County.
James Auto Center teamed up with the non-profit housing organization to sponsor the first Habitat for Humanity home in Bay County.
Volunteers, family members, and Panama City Mayor Lauren Degeorge all gathered for a dedication ceremony and blessing.
Ana Maria Cordero, the new homeowner, said, "It makes me feel excited because now I can continue to work and go to school and not have to worry about a place to stay, and it's affordable, most of all, it's affordable."
James and Anna Marie Morris, sponsors, added, It's a win-win situation. We're proud that we're the first ones that can do this in Bay County, and we challenge all businesses out there. If you're collecting sales tax you can do the same thing and keep the money in Bay County."
