Almost 40 wounded soldiers got a chance to escape into the Gulf's beauty Friday through a fishing trip.

And in the words of one soldier we spoke to to the weekend long stay in Panama City Beach is a dream come true.

Just after 4p.m. the Jubilee fishing boat returned to land with 35 smiling soldiers and hundreds of fish.

The soldiers are stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia as part of the "Warrior Transition Battalion."

The fishing trip and the rest of the weekend's events are all in an effort to transition them from the battlefield back to normal life.

In all, the soldiers, caught over 400 fish during the deep-sea trip.

Linda Cope, the mother of Joshua Cope, organized the weekend stay.

You probably remember her son who lost both of his legs in an IED attack in November 2006.

Also a part of the trip was the medic who played a huge part in saving Cope's life.

We caught up with Meg Uggin and he tells us the heroic act was just part of his job and he is grateful to see Cope again since the last time he saw him was sending him away on a helicopter.

The soldiers have a free day planned Saturday, church and brunch planned for Sunday and then it's back to the base Sunday afternoon.
