Walton County sheriff’s investigators have arrested 2 people accused of ripping off their employers for thousands of dollars in unrelated cases.
A 41-year-old Destin bookkeeper named Laurie L. Kimbell is accused of forging checks from her employer and making electronic payments from the employer’s account to herself.
Authorities say the theft took place from 2003 thru 2005 to the tune of 245- thousand dollars. Kimbell is charged with 7 felony counts including theft, organized fraud and aggravated white collar crime.
Investigators also arrested Andrea M. Hickey, of Frankfort, Ky, charging her with 8-counts including larceny, petit theft and forgery.
Hickey had been working as the personal assistant to the alleged victim. Deputies say she stole a little more than 34-thousand dollars by forging checks, making unauthorized electronic transfers and unauthorized charges to a business credit card.
Both women are in the Walton County Jail in Defuniak Springs.
