The Air Force's top officer says a plan to move 3,400 jobs from Eglin Air Force Base Florida base to the west coast is off the table for now.
Air Force Chief of Staff General T. Michael Moseley says the military has reversed an earlier decision to transfer the 46th Test Wing from Eglin Air Force Base pending a study of test and evaluation capabilities.
Those who fought the plan weren't quite breathing a sigh of relief, though.
Bill Sutey, an aide to Senator Bill Nelson, says the Air Force has long wanted to transfer the test wing and its 3,500 jobs from Eglin to Edwards Air Force Base in California.
The study is expected to be done by late March.
