One of Jackson County's so-called "cold cases" isn't so cold these days.
State Attorney Steve Meadows empanelled a grand jury in Marianna Wednesday morning. He's reportedly presenting evidence in the double murder of Kenneth Powell and Sabrena Tedder.
The married couple was killed in their Missouri Avenue home, just outside of Marianna in April 2003. Then the killer set their home on fire to destroy the evidence.
Jackson County sheriff's deputies investigated a possible link between Powell and Tedder's murder, and another one that took place about 10 months later.
Ricky Meredith was killed in February 2004 inside of Thomas Cochrane's house about 100 yards from the first crime scene. Cochran is serving a life sentence for Meredith's murder.
There’s no word if investigators are still considering Cochran a possible suspect.
Meadows called between eight and 10 witnesses during Wednesday’s grand jury testimony. The proceedings will pick up again Thursday morning.
