A former Army Ranger who shot his family to death in Crestview won’t be getting off death row. Jeffrey Hutchinson was found guilty in 2001 and sentenced to death on four counts of first degree murder.
The murders happened in September 1998 at the family’s home in Crestview.
Hutchinson killed his live-in girlfriend Renee Flaherty and her three children, Amanda, Logan and Geoffrey.
After slaughtering the family with a shotgun, Hutchinson called 911 and told the operator he had just shot his family. Later, he tried to claim the voice on the 911 tape was not his and two men came into their home and shot the four victims.
Thursday the Florida Supreme Court turned down his appeal. He had claimed his trial attorney had a conflict of interest and had ignored several potential witnesses who would have said the voice on the 911 tape was not Hutchinson's
