The incident played out just before midnight at the summer breeze motel on front beach road Friday night.
According to Bay County Sheriff's Investigators it

One Tallahassee man is dead and another Tallahassee man behind bars after investigators say the one murdered the other in Panama City Beach Friday night.
It happened just before midnight at the Summer Breeze Motel on Front Beach Road.
According to Bay County Sheriff's Office Investigators it started with two friends arguing and ended with one of the men allegedly shooting the other twice in the chest with a handgun.
When the Bay County Sheriff's Office responded they found Steven Anthony Thompson standing on the second floor of the building.
A handgun was found laying on the walkway a short distance from him.
When deputies walked into room 216 they found the body of Nicholas Nigel Barter.
Investigators say Thompson admitted to shooting Barter after a verbal argument escalated into a physical fight.
According to investigators Thompson was able to overcome Baker and hold him to the ground by the throat.
Thompson "thought the fight was over" and went to the bathroom, but Barter came at him again in a threatening manner.
It was then that Thompson grabbed his gun and fired it twice, striking barter in the chest.
Thompson was taken to the Bay County Jail and booked on an open count of murder.

See that is where you are wrong. I do know the details and I know that Steve had to be put in medical isolation due to the injuries he sustained. I also know that your nephew kept coming even after the gun was pulled. I am very sorry for your families loss please don't get me wrong on that but there is a time to stop fighting and that time was long past.

NO, I did NOT forget that my nephew was in a physical altercation with that "man". But what you don't know, that I do, is that after that "man" physically beat him down to the floor and "won" the fight, he did not call police first instead of point blank killing him.I had to look at his badly battered face and body at his wake. If that "man" really felt that "threatened" he could have simply held him at bay with his gun until police arrived instead of excercising his "natural killer instincts". Simple manners of that kind could have been resolved in a much easier way...many lives were affected by this, including that of his unborn child, but I suppose these are the ways of ill- tempered men. My nephew would have handled things more "manly", than this coward with a gun...Besides you know none of the specifics in the case. This article does not justify what really happened...you must really believe everything you read. Tsk.Tsk.

Did you forget that your nephew beat that man? Your nephew was the one who would not back down! It sounds to me like he only defended his own life!
