It has been one of the most anticipated truck launches ever, and one of the automobile industry’s best kept secrets. It was unveiled Friday at Panama City Toyota.
"It" is the new 2007 Tundra, Toyota’s first truly full-size truck. It is noticeably larger than any previous Tundra, and the numbers it puts up are impressive.
The new truck can tow almost 11,000 pounds, and offers three engine choices, topped by a big 5.7 power plant.
Toyota is offering 31 models, and interior amenities like navigation systems and DVDs. The trucks bed can carry a payload of almost 2300 pounds.
Panama City Toyota’s Rusty Hill says beginning today, Toyota trucks run with the big boys: " it was awesome. I want to thank everybody. The response was overwhelming and the reaction was even more overwhelming. This truck is for real and we’re in the truck business for good now."
