Jinks Middle School Student Wins Bay County Spelling Bee

A Jinks Middle School student was the winner of the 2007 Bay County Spelling Bee held Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Gulf Coast Community College.

Nathaniel Johnson III won the event by correctly spelling the word ‘Permian’.

The runner-up was Jake Miller, a student at Mowat Middle School.

The county competition was sponsored by the Bay County Reading Association, Regions Bank and Gulf Coast Community College.

Twenty-seven 4th-8th grade students from Bay County public and private schools participated in the competition.

Nathaniel will represent Bay County at the Regional Spelling Bee that will be held Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bay District Schools Nelson Administrative Building, Panama City, Florida. This competition is sponsored by the Panama City News Herald.
