Former House Representative and son of former Panama City Mayor Jerry Clemons announced Tuesday he's running for the mayor's seat.
Scott Clemons says he pulled out of politics several years back following several years in the Florida House because his children were young, but now he's ready for another run at it.
He says he wants to follow in his fathers footsteps, bringing the community together. A few of his goals include making Panama City a haven for raising families, and he wants to establish a code of ethics.
Clemons says he hopes to restore the city's faith in city officials by banning city employees from accepting gifts from people who have interest in city business.
"I'd like to bring people together instead of working against each other."
Scott's father Jerry Clemons served as Mayor of Panama City for 24 years until he was defeated by current incumbent Lauren DeGeorge two years ago.
