A man survives a plane crash Sunday afternoon after Bay County Sheriff's Investigators say the ultra light aircraft crashed in the Fountain area.

According to Investigators, the call came into dispatch just before 4p.m. from witnesses who say they saw the pilot safely escape the aircraft.

Investigators say one of the wings on the plane malfunctioned, but the plane itself had a parachute attached allowing the pilot to safely glide the plane to the ground.

They say it landed in the woods in the Fountain area near Morrow Road, just west of U.S. Highway 231

Investigators and witnesses say the pilot survived without any injuries.

Investigators say the FAA will not be investigating the crash.

Watched the crash. Nothing malfunctioned. The idiot was doing loops--aerobatics--in an ultralight not designed for the G-forces. He was up around 1,000 feet AGL, and over-stressing the airframe. When the aircraft failed, he used the ballistic parachute to slow his descent. It was no accident, just another idiot that was fortunate to have ballistic chute mounted to the airframe. He gives all ultralight pilots a bad name.
