City Hall Safe Cracking

Burglars who broke-into the safe at Springfield City Hall this weekend took several utility check payments.

Springfield city officials are asking residents to help the city ensure the payments are safely received.

Springfield utility customers who made utility payments by check on February 15th or February 16th are asked to call the Springfield Water Department to verify their check was processed, and not stolen.

The number for the Springfield Water Department is 872-7570 extension 114.

Robert Walker is Springfield’s Mayor. "Some are gone, some are not. We've just got to identify who paid by check and identify who they are and if their check didn't clear the bank then they need to stop payment and issue another check."

City officials will not discontinue utility service to those residents whose checks were stolen.
