BIG CITY POLICE USE THEM ³
³ ALL THE TIME TO CONTROL ³
LARGE CROWDS. ³
³ NOW THEY COULD BE COMING ³
³ TO PANAMA CITY. ³
³
³ A PRIVATE RESIDENT HAS ³
³ OFFERED TO BUY TRAINED ³
HORSES FOR THE PANAMA CITY ³
³ POLICE DEPARTMENT. ³
³ LIKE THIS VOLUNTEER ³
³ EQUESTRIAN UNIT IN CEDAR ³
³ GROVE BACK IN 1998, THE ³
³ PANAMA CITY POLICE ³
³ DEPARTMENT COULD USE THE ³
³ HORSES TO CONTROL CROWDS AT ³
³ FESTIVALS HELD IN THE CITY ³
THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. ³
LOCAL LEADERS THINK IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA. ³
³
³ "Anyone who's been in a ³
³ crowd in a big city knows ³
equestrian units are very ³
effective at crowd control. ³
³ Do we have crowds that ³
³ large? Well for Mardi Gras ³
³ we do," Mayor Gerry Clemmons says. ³
³
³ PANAMA CITY COMMISSIONERS ³
³ WILL TAKE UP THE ISSUE AT ³
³ TOMORROW'S BOARD MEETING.
