A CORRECTIONS OFFICER IS ³
IN JAIL TONIGHT ACUSED OF ³
³ MAKING METHAMPHETAMINE. ³
³ DEPUTIES SAY THEY ³
³ DISCOVERED A METH LAB IN THE ³
³ WOMANS' CAR, AFTER MAKING A ³
³ TRAFFIC STOP. ³
³
³
³
³
³ Sheriff's officials say ³
³ it all began with a routine ³
³ traffic stop. ³
³
³ "Around two p-m today ³
³ Deputies pulled over a car ³
for a routine traffic stop ³
off of South Gainer Bayou ³
in Southport. They searched ³
³ the car and found a mobile ³
³ lab inside," Ruth Sasser, the spokeswoman for Bay County Sheriff's Office says. At the same time ³
deputies were searching ³
³ this van dispatchers ³
³ received a 9-1-1 call ³
³ telling them the same ³
³ people driving the van lived ³
³ down the street and had a ³
³ meth lab inside their home ³
³ as well. ³
³ After searching the home ³
³ they found the components of ³
³ a meth lab, and arrested ³
³ Candy Alawhich-Goodwin and ³
³ Jamie Roch of Southport. ³
³ They also took into ³
³ custody Frieda Masters, a ³
³ Corrections officer for ³
³ Correctional Corporation of ³
³ America..an arrest that ³
³ doesn't surprise Sheriff's officials. ³
³ "It is our experience ³
³ that it crosses all social ³
³ strata. We find meth labs in ³
³ upscale areas and rural ³
³ areas. And everything in ³
³ between." ³
³ This is at least the ³
³ third time the MAD unit has ³
³ made a bust in Southport, ³
³ but Sasser says the meth ³
³ problem isn't concentrated ³
³ to one area. ³
³ "We find meth labs ³
³ everywhere and now that ³
³ they're mobile they could be ³
³ anywhere."
