PANAMA CITY COMMISSIONERS ³
³ HAVE TAKEN ONE STEP TO ³
³ IMRPOVE PUBLIC SAFETY. ³
³ BUT THEY'RE STILL ³
³ STRUGGLING OVER ANOTHER, ³
³ MORE COMPLICATED SAFETY ³
³ ISSUE. ³
³ THE DISCUSSIONS CENTER ³
³ AROUND TRANSIENTS AND ³
³ CRIME. ³
³ ³
³ ³
³ ³
³ Mayor Gerry Clemons has ³
asked the Downtown ³
³ Impriovement Board to ³
³ report back to the ³
³ commission at the next meeting, with specifics ³
³ about crimes committed by ³
³ transients as well as ³
³ solutions. ³
³ ³
³ Just last month a ³
transient was allegedly ³
³ murdered by another ³
transient in a wooded area ³
in panama city... ³
³ Authorities also say a ³
³ fire that destroyed a ³
³ local business was started ³
³ by a transient. ³
³ Now local residents are ³
³ taking their complaints to ³
³ the city commission. ³
³ Larry and Julie Grodon say the ³
³ rescue mission is to blame ³
³ and they have a solution.
"The mission should be moved next door to the sheriff's office or Panama City P.D. I bet you wouldn't see as many transients committing crimes then," Larry Gordon says.
