A man turns a gun on his girlfriend during an argument Friday night and now Cedar Grove police are investigating what they believe to be an attempted murder suicide.
It all began Friday afternoon when 24 year old Amy Ethridge got upset that her boyfriend was flirting with another woman.
Officials say when Ethridge confronted her boyfriend, 25 year old John Chris Clayton at their home in Cedar Grove, he pulled a gun and shot her in the foot with a 22 riffle.
Police say he then turned the gun on himself. The shot went through Clayton’s upper left cheek and into the home, lodging itself into their childrens’ bedroom wall.
Police say the couples three children- all under the age of 6- were not at home at the time of the shooting.
Both Clayton and Ethridge were transported to a local with non life threatening injuries.
Officers arrested Clayton and charges of aggravated domestic violence, aggravated battery with a firearm, discharging a firearm under the influence, and possession of a firearm by a felon. Clayton could face additional charges for attacking a guard at the jail.
