The Bay County Sheriffs Office Rodeo is a fundraiser for the 23 Bay County volunteers that ride horseback to help out law enforcement in all sorts of investigations.
It use to be that the volunteers in the posse had to pay their own way to drive their horses to and from search scenes. That changed last year with the first annual rodeo.
The posse is getting some help from funds raised at this weekend’s event. Big crowds were on hand for the two night event at the rodeo grounds on Sherman Avenue.
The rodeo features competitions in bareback riding, saddle, steer wrestling, team roping, calf roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
Admission is 10-dollars at the door and all proceeds go to the posse. Last years event brought in about 8- thousand dollars.
