The State Fire Marshal's Office is helping to investigate an overnight blaze at an old motel in Panama City.
At 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning someone noticed the fire at the old Cannon Motel on Highway 231. The motel is closed and supposed to be unoccupied.
Panama City fire crews say the fire started in the attic, and they had it under control quickly. Fire fighters say they believe the fire may have been started by an arsonist who may be connected to some, if not all, of 11 suspicious fires in the past week and a half.
The blazes are primarily brush and woods; however, they believe this morning's blaze is connected.
All of the suspicious fires have been located in the general area of Harrison Ave and Highway 231 within the city limits.
Call the Panama City Police or Fire Departments with information. A reward of $2,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Call the Police or Fire Department at 872-3100 or 872-3045.
