A Panama City Beach teenager is being held at the Bay County Jail on charges of attempted murder.

Very early Saturday morning a woman saw a man hit another man in the head with a baseball bat. The witness says the attacker was 18-year-old William Shoults, who said he was going to kill the victim, Panama City resident Michael McDaniel.

Shoults is now being held on $61,000 bond at the Bay County Jail. The incident happened around 2 in the morning outside of a Chevron station on the corner of Joan Avenue and North Lagoon Drive.

The witness says after Shoults hit McDaniel in the head with the bat, McDaniel and Jason Reynolds, another Panama City resident, ran to their truck to escape Shoults’ attack.

You can see the skid marks their vehicle made while leaving, but the witness says while the two men were driving off, Shoults continued to hit the truck with a bat, breaking windows and striking Reynolds in the arm.

Reynolds was treated at Gulf Coast Medical Center and released with minor injuries. McDaniels had serious head injuries that required surgery.
