The initial reasons for the campaign were to raise awareness about the possible dangers and making drivers obey the laws at all times.

But police say this week they're targeting specific problem areas or situations brought to their attention by the public.

Police say they chose to warn driver’s in advance, to help keep drivers from committing the violations.

While the goal is to raise awareness, officers will be ticketing violators.

Panama City Police Dept. Sgt. Jeff Becker said, "We're trying to get the information so the public understands A what we're looking for, and B what they can be cautioned too. We add tips to the information, we add any pointers that we can assist in, and so it's basically to get the information out."

The next patrol will begin tomorrow for speeding on 15th Street west of Florida Avenue and east of Lisenby Avenue.

There will also be patrols for red light violations at West 11th Street and Beck Avenue.

The dates and places of our traffic enforcement efforts are as follows:

Monday October 12th 2009 our focus will be Stop Sign violations at 23rd Street and
Highway 231 and Stop Sign violations at west 19th Street and Michigan Avenue.
