The governor and Cabinet pay tribute to some of Florida best and brightest. The 2007 Sunshine State Scholars were in Tallahassee Tuesday, ten teenagers from across the state who are tops when it comes to math and science.
Seminole High School student Casey Hua says they made the grade by doing research on the best forms of alternative energy.
“We’re bonding and we’re collaborating, so you see us doing that last night, but maybe in the future, maybe we can find a solution to this energy crisis because we’ve all already written 15 page papers on that.”
But Hua doesn’t want a career in energy. She has another goal in mind.
“Well, I actually want to be a biomedical engineer and I haven’t heard back. I don’t hear back from colleges until April, so I’m still waiting on that.”
The governor and Cabinet are honoring the students with a resolution praising their academic achievements.
There are ten Sunshine State Scholars, including Samuel Tucker Browne, Mosley High School, Bay County and Peter Nguyen, Ft. Walton Beach High School, Okaloosa County.
