An Alford man is dead after running his car off the road in Jackson County early Sunday morning.

It happened just after midnight at Lakepoint Road near 231.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say 51-year-old Alford resident Ricky Lamar was driving northbound on Lakepoint Road when he ran off the road and struck a tree.

It appears he died on scene.

Troopers say the investigation is still on-going.
