Three burglaries were discovered Tuesday at three schools in DeFuniak Springs.

According to reports, due to inclement weather from tropical storm Ida, West DeFuniak Elementary, Maude Saunders Elementary, and the Walton Career Developmental Center were all closed, however, during the school's closure, all three were vanalized and broken into.

According to the DeFuniak Springs Police Dept., the only minor damage was reportedly caused during the break-ins. At this time it does not appear that any items were taken from the schools. School district administration is expected to complete a full inventory upon return to work. The investigation of all three burglaries is ongoing by the DeFuniak Springs Police and any information pertaining to these incidents should be forwarded to the DeFuniak Springs Police Department at (850) 892-8511.
