The 3.9 mile, fully paved stretch is part of the Florida National Scenic Trail.
The scenic trail runs all the way from Big Cypress National Preserve, just north of the Everglades National Park, all the way to Pensacola Beach.
Event organizers say the bike path will serve a new vital role in the county, building up the area’s economic standing.
The focus will be on eco-tourism. They say the path will bring those traveling through into Calhoun County where they will be spending money and enjoying the town's historic atmosphere.
This newest portion of the bike path runs from the Apalachicola River landing, under Highway 20, along Wooden Walkway Bridge through Blountstown, and ends up at Sam Akins Park.
Organizers say the event was also part of "Step Up Florida," a statewide initiative promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles to Florida's citizens and visitors.
