The child abuse case of a Marianna High School athletics coach is now in the hands of the State Attorney's office.

Jackson County sheriff's investigators have two complaints of child abuse against Stuart Mahler and forwarded it to the State Attorney's office.

Mahler, who taught P-E, Driver's Ed and coached the Marianna High School wrestling team, is accused of threatening and causing injury to some students.

The investigation began in January, when someone called the Department of Children and Families abuse hotline. D-C-F then turned the case over the Jackson County sheriff's office.

Mahler has been on-leave since the investigation began. He has not been arrested. It will be up to the State Attorney's office to formally charge Mahler with child abuse, if the evidence warrants it.

Meanwhile, Jackson County sheriff's investigators also say they're investigating a case of teacher abuse at Sneads High School. The complaints surfaced Tuesday.

Several students have accused the male teacher of touching them in an inappropriate manner. The teacher has not been charged, his name at this time is not being released.
