BLOUNTSTOWN-This time last year we told you about the pancake breakfast for the Blountstown Fire Dept.'s fire truck restoration project. Fire fighters say they are almost done, but still nee a few more donations before completion.

This years second annual fundraiser for the project kicked off at sunrise Saturday to the smell of hearty pancakes and bacon.

It was held at Connie's Kitchen in Blountstown. Each plate of pancakes and sausage or bacon went for just $5.00. Of course all of the proceeds will go towards restoring the Blountstown Fire Department's 1945 fire engine.

They started the project just over a year ago and say they're

"It's a 1945 ford and we are raising for the pancake breakfast and restore so we can save part of the city's history that we lost some time ago," says Blountstown City Councilman Tony Shoemake.

"We're working on restoring and it getting it back better than it's original condition this is a good kick off for us because it's our 100th anniversary in 2010 and not many fire dept.'s around can say that they have been around 100 years, but we're fortunate and we're really concentrating on our history this year and this is a big part of our history," says Blounstown Fire Chief Ben Hall.

If you would like to contribute a couple bucks to the restoration project you can give them a call at, (850) 643-7893.
