Three Pedestrians Killed In Separate Area Traffic Accidents
Florida Highway Patrolmen have been busy investigating three area traffic fatalities, all of them pedestrians.

Florida Highway Patrolmen have been busy investigating three area traffic fatalities, all of them pedestrians.

In Okaloosa County, 67 year old Stephen G. Schumacher of Fort Walton Beach Died from his injuries he received when he was dragged by a car on Woodbine Circle north of Jonquil Ave. He came loose from the SUV and was rushed to Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center where he died.

The Driver of the car, 35-year-old Joseph Patrick Schumacher, also of Ft. Walton Beach, fled the scene and was involved in several other crashes in the Mary Esther Area.

Troopers have charged him with DUI and hit and run driving. Other charges are sill pending

Meanwhile, in Washington County 89-year-old Charles E. James of Chipley died on US Highway 90 east of Holderby Road.

Troopers say James was a pedestrian when he walked into the path of a truck driven 46 year old Eric D. Harris of Panama City. Harris took evasive action to avoid the collision but was unable to miss the elderly man.

James was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third traffic fatality happened in Calhoun County on State Road 69 north of Parish Lake Road.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 50-year-old Donna Basford of Blountstown stepped into the path of a car and was struck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 31 year old Rebecca Clemmons also Blountstown has not been charged.
