It happened in the 7500 block of Jefferson Street around 10 a.m.
According to Bay County Sheriff's investigators, 58-year-old Michael Norman was sitting at his PC when his mother, 82-year-old Grace Varnum, came up from behind and shot him with a 38-caliber handgun.
The bullet hit his upper chest area. Sheriff’s deputies say there was no fight or altercation to provoke the shooting.
Norman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound. He’s in stable condition. He’s expected to recover.
His mother was admitted for evaluation of her condition, although she was not injured.
