Ex-Inmates Seeking Restoration of Civil Rights

Bush announced Thursday that the state finished a review of 125,000 cases included in a lawsuit against the state on behalf of felons released from prison between 1992 and 2001.

About 22,000 were eligible to have their rights automatically restored, and half of those already had.

Of the remaining 103,000, about half would likely have their rights restored if they go through a hearing process, but it's not clear how many will seek to do so.

The remaining 50,000 or so aren't eligible for a variety of reasons.

Florida is one of seven states that does not automatically restore felons' civil rights after they've served their time.
